Our construction philosophy - ExP

With ExP, ScanBox's unique construction, we create products that bring reliability to your workday. Through smart material choices, controlled processes, and thoughtful design, we deliver durable performance you can depend on.

ExP stands for Environmental x Performance and serves as our guiding principle in crafting products that simplify and enhance your workday. With a focus on superior insulation, robust construction, and long-lasting durability, we ensure consistent temperature control and stable performance, even under demanding conditions.

We strive to combine lightweight design with energy efficiency, reducing consumption while delivering more flexible and user-friendly solutions.

Optimized insulation

To achieve maximum insulation performance, we use polyurethane foam with optimal density. This material retains temperature up to 50% better than alternatives like polystyrene, fiberglass and stone wool, commonly used in stainless steel products.

Aluminum interior

Aluminum is a lightweight material that conducts and distributes heat and cold 14 times better than stainless steel. This allows the boxes to heat up faster with less energy and maintain a more even temperature throughout the compartment compared to stainless steel.

Fiberglass-reinforced plastic exterior

For the outer shell, we use GRP (fiberglass-reinforced plastic). It retains temperature while offering a hygienic, impact-resistant, and aesthetically pleasing exterior. GRP is lighter than stainless steel and resists unsightly dents from impacts and discoloration from sunlight. In other words, the unit will look new for a long time.

Controlled production process

We build our units using insulation panels, enabling us to control the production process and achieve consistent results every time. Alternative methods, such as mold casting, often result in less predictable outcomes. Tests reveal that molded products have uneven filling and less reliable insulation performance.

Robust overall construction

Joints are precision-fitted and glued to eliminate potential temperature loss through seams. Combined with the stainless steel outer frame, which also prevents heat transfer to the user, these features ensure a stable and durable structure.

Free air circulation

Removable guide rails allow for flexible use of the unit's interior space. Since the guide rails are positioned with a gap from the box's inner wall, air circulates freely, naturally distributing temperature. This results in a maximum temperature difference of 2°C between the top and bottom of the compartment, compared to up to 20°C with pressed guides.

Verified insulation performance

We test the product's insulation capability in a controlled temperature chamber under various ambient temperatures. When correctly loaded, tests show the product’s temperature changes by a maximum of 1°C in 1 hour – even when unplugged.

Verified for 10 years of heavy-duty use

Our construction has been tested by a third party simulating 10 years of rough handling. This provides assurance that ScanBox products withstand tough environments for extended periods.

Verified impact resistance

The exterior material's ability to absorb impacts has been tested with excellent results. Compared to stainless steel products or those with weaker plastics, the surface maintains its shine for much longer.
